Nuans Questions

  • Q: What is the fee for the name search?
    • A: $45.00 plus $5.85 hst.
  • Q: How long is the process?
    • A: Turn-around time is same day if requested by 3:00 pm atlantic time.
  • Q: What provinces will affect the availability of my name?
    • A: Any similar names in new brunswick or nova scotia will affect the availability of your name.
  • Q: Will i be charged twice if my first choice is not available?
    • A: A preliminary search is preformed before the names are entered. If there is a problem at this stage, there is no fee, and you will be contacted to provide a second choice, if one was not given at time of request.
  • Q: Can i have my name searched canada wide?
    • A: To register with the new brunswick government, the atlantic report is required. The federal nuans is only for corporations that wish to federally incorporate.
  • Q: Why do i require a nuans report?
    • A: The nuans report is required by the government before they will register your business name. The search indicates similar business/corporate names to yours. If the names are too similar, your name will not be available for registration.
  • Q: If i am using my own name in the business name, do i still require a search?
    • A: Yes, also note that a business name cannot consist only of a personal name or initial. A distinctive word must be added. Ex: john doe enterprises.
  • Q: How long is the report valid?
    • A: The report is valid for 90 days. If you have not registered in this period, you will be required to search again.

  • Q: How long does it take to receive the corporate information?
    • A: New brunswick, nova scotia & pei corporate information can usually be provided the same day as requested.
  • Q: Can copies of documents be ordered?
    • A: All documents filed by the corporation or business are available. There is a fee, depending on the type of copy requested.
